Homemade Chai Spice

My mom has been making chai masala or chai spice at home for years. There’s always a bottle of it stocked in the pantry. It’s quite possibly the easiest thing and it transforms any black tea into a sweet and spicy blend that tastes better than and not chemical like a Starbucks Chai Latte. I add this homemade chai spice to loose leaf black tea, to flavored teabags like vanilla tea as well as regular teabags. You can even add a few teaspoons to your favorite plain vanilla cake for a chai-spiced version or even cookies, oatmeal, french toast, the list goes on.

Add half a teaspoon of this easy homemade chai spice to your black tea, latte, favorite cakes, french toast, etc. for that deep sweet spiced flavor.
  • 2 1-inch long cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp whole black pepper
  • 1 tsp cardamom seeds
  1. Blend all the ingredients in a food processor.
  2. Add ¼ teaspoon of the spice mix to your loose leaf tea mix or while brewing a teabag. Strain before drinking.
